Lightweight Modules to Maximise Yield

After almost six months of installation, the photovoltaic system for Schenker Storen AG has been in operation since early June 2024. With over 4,000 solar modules on an area of more than 8,800 m², the system will produce over 1.8 million kWh of solar power annually, covering more than 50% of the electricity requirements of Schenker Storen AG’s plant in Schönenwerd. The total installed capacity of 1,847 kWp is distributed across two module types: classic glass modules and flexible lightweight modules. The Sunman modules, specially selected for their low weight, enabled installation on a roof section that cannot bear heavy loads. With a system weight of only 7 kg/m², they are significantly lighter than conventional modules and are attached with a weather-resistant adhesive, enabling penetration-free installation. Schenker Storen AG also used this project as an opportunity to carry out a quick but thorough roof inspection to remedy potential leaks and make structural extensions to the roof. This is intended to ensure flexible and cost-effective roof maintenance in the future.
