Largest Rooftop Photovoltaic System in Canton Aargau

As the largest timber construction company in Canton Aargau, Balteschwiler AG wanted to put its energy supply on a sustainable and economically independent footing. Ampere Dynamic built the largest rooftop photovoltaic system in Canton Aargau for this purpose: with 3’091 kWp of capacity across 15’437 m² of roof area, the solar power plant generates 3’030 MWh of clean electricity a year. This makes the business largely self-sufficient and leaves an annual surplus of 1.9 gigawatt-hours to feed into the public grid.

The solar power plant spans the CNC joinery centre and the logistics halls of Balteschwiler AG in Laufenburg. The system consists of 8’036 modules and was commissioned in July 2023, on schedule and without interrupting ongoing operations. The decision for renewable self-supply underlines Balteschwiler AG’s long-term commitment to Switzerland’s Energy Strategy 2050 and strengthens the economic viability of the site for the long term.
