Commissioning of Europe’s largest fast-charging park for electric lorries

Together with the Hugelshofer Group and partners, Ampere Dynamic Schweiz GmbH has built Europe’s largest fast-charging park for electric lorries. At the heart of the Truckport is the solar power plant, which spans three rooftop installations and two Truckport PV systems with a total capacity of just over one megawatt (1,001 kWp).

The project addresses the challenges associated with charging and grid infrastructure for the Hugelshofer Group’s growing fleet of electric HGVs. As a pioneer in the deployment of alternative drive systems, the Hugelshofer Group has set itself the ambitious goal of reducing its CO2 emissions by half by 2030.

To this end, space has been created for 14 charging stations with 28 charging points. The aim is to produce over one million kWh of electricity annually for the electric lorries, thereby generating 40 per cent of the required energy in-house.

In addition to the Truckport, a specially developed load and charge management system optimises the state of charge of the vehicles, electricity production and electricity demand, all coordinated with route planning. A purpose-built transformer building supplies 14 fast-charging stations with electricity, enabling 28 lorries to be charged simultaneously in just 90 minutes.
