Planning and Implementation of Charging Park with PV System at Main Site in Ottelfingen

Capacity
383 kWp

For MAN Truck & Bus Schweiz AG, Ampere Dynamic Schweiz GmbH has implemented a holistic solution for electrification and energy optimisation as a turnkey contractor. The focus was on establishing future-proof charging infrastructure for the operation of electric commercial vehicles.

As turnkey contractor, Ampere Dynamic was responsible for both the AC side and the DC side. On the AC side, the contract included all electrical planning, installation of new switchgear and coordination with the grid operator. All technical provisions for later expansion of the charging park were already made at this stage.

In parallel, the DC side was implemented. Ampere Dynamic installed a high-performance photovoltaic system with 383 kWp total capacity for self-generated electricity supply and supplemented this with a modern fast-charging station for electric HGVs, so that vehicles can charge reliably and quickly during downtimes.

For optimal use of energy flows, the Clemap energy management system was integrated into the infrastructure. It monitors and controls the energy flow between grid connection, self-generated electricity, consumption and charging infrastructure, reduces load peaks and increases operational reliability. Thanks to intelligent control, an immediate further increase in the grid connection could be avoided to keep investment costs low. Since the main distribution is designed for 1,000 A and offers reserve feeders, expansion remains possible at any time.

In advance, Ampere Dynamic carried out detailed surveys and grid clarifications. Load data were checked, simultaneity-related additional capacities evaluated and all measuring points analysed comprehensively. These findings formed the basis for technical design and strategic expandability. In addition, the photovoltaic system was planned with foresight: free MPPT inputs on the existing inverters allow simple expansion on the DC side.

Further expansion is being planned. Integration of a battery storage system is planned to further increase self-consumption and strengthen grid independence. The system thus remains efficient, future-oriented and modularly expandable.
