Swiss Post's First Large-Scale Battery Storage for Grid Stabilization

Together with Swiss Post, Ampere Dynamic realized the first large-scale battery storage facility for grid support in Untervaz. The system features 2 MWh storage capacity and 1,000 kW power output. It forms the backbone of an intelligent, scalable energy system that will play a central role in local grid stabilization.

The Enline energy management system by Optec was evaluated, adapted to specific requirements, and fully integrated into the system architecture. It precisely controls energy flows between the grid, storage, and consumers — for maximum efficiency and supply security.

An architectural highlight is the vertically installed photovoltaic system along the building facade. With 264 kWp and a projected annual yield of 164,427 kWh, it makes a substantial contribution to winter electricity production — an aspect often neglected in conventional PV systems. The aesthetic integration was implemented with the utmost care: substructure and PV modules are color-matched to the facade, and the battery storage in “Post Yellow” completes the appearance.
